Rescheduling Games

Poor weather or conflicts with scheduled away tournaments are two reasons why occasionally games will need to be rescheduled. Rescheduling games should not be done simply for convenience nor because a team is missing a certain player. The regular season schedule is a set length, and it can be challenging to find mutually available ice that does not force a team to play too many games in a short period. Always use rescheduling a game as a last result and follow UOVMHL guidelines found in the Constitution.

PERMISSIONS
Team Managers do not have the ability to modify games in the league schedule. All games being rescheduled must go through the home team’s association Ice Allocator.

Ice Allocator – Home Team is the only person who can modify games on the schedule and can only do so for home games within their association.

TEAM MANAGER: I NEED TO RESCHEDULE A GAME – NOW WHAT?
Away Game: If you are the team manager and need to reschedule an away game, contact the opposing team’s manager. Explain why you need to reschedule and request a change be made.

Home Game: If you are the team manager for a home game and need to reschedule, or receive a request from the away team’s manager, you will need to initiate the rescheduling process by contacting your ice allocator.

  • Provide the team level, date, time, and game number that needs to be changed. Do not simply provide a date and assume they know which game as there may be multiple games scheduled on the same date.
  • If the home team manager knows of a mutually available date it can be provided to the ice allocator. This can occur when the home team has a practice scheduled that can be converted into a game slot, and the away team is available.
  • If a date is not known the ice allocator can view both team’s schedules side by side and can easily find mutually available dates.
