Playoffs - Information for Coaches and Managers
The regular season will be complete soon and it will be a very quick turnaround into the quarter final playoff series. Teams can expect to play their first playoff game between February 6th and 10th. Attached is the playoff information pulled from the UOVMHL Constitution.

2023 Playoffs - All except U11 House, U11 Competitive, and U18 House
Dates:
- Quarter
Finals - February 7th to 21st
- Semi
Finals - February 24th to March 10th
- No games
during March break
- Championship
Series - March 20th to 31st
Divisions:
- House and Competitive - A / B Divisions
Structure:
- First to
four points head-to-head series.
- Maximum
four games.
- Games 1
and 3 are played at the home arena of the highest seeded team from regular
season.
- Two
points are awarded for a win, one point for a tie.
- If ahead
of Game 3 the series is tied at two points each, the home team coach may elect
to play overtime in the third game. This decision must be made prior to the
start of the game and communicated with the visiting coach in advance.
- Overtime
must be played in Game 4 if the score is tied at the end of regulation.
- Overtime
will be sudden victory with a series of five minute stop time periods. The
first five minutes will be four on four. The second and subsequent five minute
periods shall be three on three.
Scheduling:
- The
league scheduler will create the matchups once league standings have been
finalized and as teams advance in the series.
- Ice
allocators will schedule the games in accordance with the league guidelines.
- Game 1
shall be scheduled within the first four days of the series.
- Game 3
shall be scheduled withing the last four days of the series, leaving at least
the last day for contingencies (ie weather or Game 4)
- Game 2
will be accommodated between Games 1 and 3.
- Coaches
and managers are to work with their association ice allocators with any
scheduling concerns.
- All four
playoff games must be completed within the series date range.
2023 Playoffs - U11 House, U11 Competitive, and U18 House
Dates:
- Round
Robin - February 6th to March 12th
- Championship
Series - March 20th to 31st
Divisions:
- U11 House: A / B / C Divisions (six teams each)
- U11 Competitive: One Division
- U18 House: A (top seven
teams) / B (bottom six teams)
Structure:
- Round
robin with teams playing a single game against every opponent in their
division.
- Two
points are awarded for a win, one point for a tie.
- At the
end of the round robin, the two highest placing teams within the division will
play off against each other in the Championship Series
- There is
no crossover of divisions (A division teams do not play against B division
teams, including the Championship Series).
- Championship
Series will follow a first to four points format, four games maximum as
detailed in the other levels above.
Scheduling:
- The
league scheduler will schedule all round robin games.
- Championship
matchups will be scheduled through the team's association ice allocator.
